Abrau - Durso
wine company.
The progress in Abrau started in 1891
when duke L. Galitsin was appointed the manager of the estate.
In 1894 L. Galitsin built a cellar which could contain 10 000 baskets
of wine. By 1987 five more similar cellars were built for production
of champagne. The
first party with the amount of 16 000 bottles was produced in Abrau-Durso
under the guidance of French specialists in 1896. And
in December 1998 the first party of champagne marked "Abrau"
was produced. In 1920 the wine state
farm Abrau - Durso was formed on the territory of the former Tzar
estate. At the same time our Soviet specialist A. Frolov - Bagreev
is appointed the leader of the state. The party of champagne
wine in the amount of 35 000 bottles was storaged under his
guidance. During the following 100 years
the production of champagne in Abrau was increasing. It was
interrupted only during the war period (1941 - 1945). Currently
Abrau - Durso wine company is number one in Russia on production
of sparkling champagne wines made in a classical bottled and
reservoir ways. The plant
cellars are five kilometers long and they are located on the depth
of 50 meters, They are ideal place for storage during the
production in a classical way, which is 3 years.
