The history of wine making on the South of Russia

From the point of view of wine making the most important part belongs to Tamanskii  peninsula. It is washed by the Black and Azov seas. There are less cloudy days in Taman  than in any other area of Russia. A small city of the same name Taman located on the  peninsula is the champion of the annual Sun shining in Russia. The Sun shines there 2400  hours a year, while in Temruk it's only 2116 hours and in Sennaja - 2005 hours. The  average temperature of the year on the peninsula is about +11 Celcius. Mild winter  allowes  to grow vine without any covering.
Wine plants of Taman produce very wide assortment of collectional drinks: dry white  and red wines, semi - dry, semi - sweet, special strong, cognac, sherry, madeira. They  include more than 150 types. Most of the wines are either the only produced in Russia  (sherry, madeira) or the best ones in their class.
There are also many wine plants in the area of the Black sea city - resort Anapa,  Novorossiisk and Krimsk.
