Taman peninsula belongs
to Temruk raion of Krasnodarskii krai. It is the biggest vineyard
wine making area of Russian Federation. Vineyards of Taman
are located on the same parallel with French Province champagne.
There are more sunny days a year than anywhere else in famous
resorts of the world.
The unique geographical position
determines the climate of this region. The warm Black sea tries
to make it maritime and considerably warm which is a characteristic
feature of all Black sea coasts. And the cold winds blowing
from Great Russian Plane bring evident elements of continental
effect. The temperature during the year does not change sufficiently.
The rains spread equally during a year.
Temruk
is an administrative center of Temruk raion. Its background is connected
with Pontius king Mitridat the 6th who after his defeat on
the Middle East withdrew through the Caucasus where it founded
an emergently built fortress. Later on the place of the fortress
there appeared a city of Tmutarakan dukedom. It is so called
"Old Temruk". Nowadays stanitsa Golubitskaja is
located in its place.
Nowadays Temruk is interesting
not only by its position. There are not many inhabited settlements
in the world which are built exactly on the slopes of a volcano.
When one is approaching the city it is being seen from far
away. The houses climb up the mountain. Almost near the crater
of the volcano one can see a church. And there is a unique military
museum located not far. Tanks, rockets, planes, patrol boats
and other Soviet military machines are exposed there.

is the southern region of modern Russia.
Kuban
is the North - Eastern part of Krasnodarskii krai.
